You just finished gaming on your new PS5 and are ready to power it off for the night, but you don’t see a power button on your console or controller. There are actually two different ways to turn off a PS5, and you can choose whichever is most convenient. You can either turn the console off directly or, if you’re seated far away from it, by pressing a few buttons on your controller. In this article, we’ll show you both simple methods.

The PS5 console has a power button, but because of the discrete design it is not visible at first glance. At the bottom of the black strip that runs down the console, you will find two thin black buttons.^{[1]
