Easily delete your Duolingo account and cancel any subscriptions

Duolingo allows existing users to delete their accounts on the web (via Duolingo’s Drive-Thru tool) and on the iOS app. In this guide, we’ll walk you through both methods, so you can delete your account once and for all. We’ll even walk you through how to cancel any existing Super Duolingo subscriptions, so you can avoid being charged in the future.

Deleting Your Duolingo Account

Log into your Duolingo account on Duolingo’s main website, and then visit the Duolingo Drive-Thru page. Tap the Erase Personal Data button to delete all the Duolingo accounts connected to your login (including any Duolingo ABC and Duolingo for Schools accounts).

  1. Hit the "I Already Have an Account" button to be redirected to the login screen, where you can plug in your password.
    • Duolingo may remember the last username/profile you used, so you’ll only need to type in the password.
  2. Head to the Duolingo Drive-Thru page. Duolingo’s Drive-Thru page allows to either ask for a copy of your data that Duolingo has on file, or request for all the Duolingo accounts associated with your login to be shut down.
    • This includes auxiliary Duolingo accounts, like Duolingo ABC and Duolingo for Schools.

  3. Duolingo warns that this process might not be instant, and that it may take up to a month for your account(s) to be deleted. Still, this is all you need to do on your end—once you hit that button, your account will be deleted.[1]
    • Note: Deleting your account doesn’t automatically cancel any Duolingo subscriptions you had. If you have ongoing Duolingo subscriptions, proceed to the How to Cancel Duolingo Subscriptions section for further instructions.

In the App (iOS only)

  1. The Duolingo app doesn’t label the tabs at the bottom of the screen, so select the icon of the woman with purple hair to access your profile.
    • Currently, this sits between an icon of a shield and a notification bell.
    • Warning: This won’t work on Android devices.
  2. This will redirect you to the settings page.
  3. According to Duolingo’s “Help” page, this option is available at the bottom of the settings page.[2]
    • Be sure to cancel any existing subscriptions you have separately.
    • Note: Some iOS users have had trouble finding this button in their Duolingo apps. If this happens to you, access your account on the web to delete your account.
